Environment and urban engineering

  • Contribute to improving comprehension of material-related health hazards.
  • Develop physicochemical methods that incorporate bioalteration aspects.

Research and experimental programmes

The studies undertaken in this area focus on two research approaches, one devoted to crafting study methodologies that evaluate material deterioration due to bacteria or fungus (drainage / sewage networks, etc.) and the other aimed at assessing the health impacts of materials employed in civil engineering applications within the scope of the European REACH protocols.

Anticipated applications

  • Definition of biochemical testing procedures.
  • Generation of ecological and sanitary risk evaluation methods for construction materials.
  • Proposed solutions for environmental restoration work specific to these types of deterioration.
  • Participation in regulatory review sessions.
